Lethbridge Eagles: Mental Health Memorial Game

Lethbridge Eagles: Mental Health Memorial Game

Alberta Female Junior Hockey League

Join the Lethbridge Eagle’s February 4, 2023 for a good old hockey game while breaking the silence and ending the stigma around mental health. The team is fundraising for two organizations: Youth One and Companion Paws. Both take great initiative in providing mental health support to their communities. This years’ second annual charitable game is up leveled by partnering with local businesses to bring the community together to continue the important conversation of mental health and suicide awareness.

How to get involved:

Donations from businesses will contribute to the memorial in honour of Emily Middag and the Eagles athlete’s mental health. Monetary proceeds will be sent to Youth One and Companion Paws, and be placed into the Eagles Mental Health Fund. The game taking place Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 4:15pm at the Nicholas Sheran Arena will include 50/50, prize raffle and great competition. If you can’t make the game in person, but would still like to participate, contributions can be directly made to the Lethbridge Eagles through monetary donations. Please reach out to eagleslethbridge@gmail.com for more details.

In memory of Emily Middag:

In 2019, the team of the Lethbridge Eagle’s were faced with tragedy as they lost a key team member and friend, Emily Middag, to mental health. Emily was a fierce player, and used her time at the rink to escape. With the loss deeply shaking the team, the Eagles decided to host their first Mental Health Memorial Game in her honour, and raised nearly $15,000. Society now understands that accessing mental health support can be difficult and un-affordable, especially for youth. This initiative will aim to provide financial assistance to Eagles players so they have access to mental health support all while honouring their friend Emily.
