Alberta Junior Female Hockey League – 2024–2025 Awards The anticipation has ended, and the moment we've all been waiting for has arrived! The AJFHL proudly celebrated the league’s top talent at the 2024–2025 Individual Awards ceremony during the All-Star Game on Saturday, April 12th.
From first-year phenoms to seasoned leaders, each award highlights the dedication, grit, and excellence that make the AJFHL such a competitive and inspiring league. Let’s take a moment to shine a spotlight on the standout players, coaches, teams, and volunteers from this unforgettable season.
AJFHL Most Outstanding Player: Tayler PremakA force on the ice and a pillar of her team, Tayler Premak’s impact this season was nothing short of phenomenal. Her dynamic play and unwavering consistency earned her the league’s highest individual honour.
AJFHL Defence of the Year: Zoe WalkerZoe Walker stood tall on the blue line all season long. Her ability to shut down top forwards, move the puck with purpose, and anchor the Chaos defence made her a clear choice for this year’s award.
AJFHL Forward of the Year: Campbell BucciElectric, explosive, and unstoppable—Campbell Bucci dominated the offensive zone this season, earning her the title of Forward of the Year with her relentless drive and scoring prowess.
Accepted by Sydney Smith from the Fort Saskatchewan Fury AJFHL Goaltender of the Year: Elizabeth CampbellBetween the pipes, Elizabeth Campbell was a brick wall. Her poise under pressure and ability to steal games for her team made her one of the league’s toughest goaltenders to beat.
AJFHL Rookie of the Year: Campbell BucciMaking her mark in a big way, first-year standout Campbell Bucci turned heads across the league with her talent and maturity beyond her years, picking up Rookie of the Year honours alongside her Forward award.
Accepted by Sydney Smith from the Fort Saskatchewan Fury AJFHL Coach of the Year: Taeya NicolWith passion, strategy, and leadership at the helm, Taeya Nicol guided the Central Alberta Amazons with determination and heart, earning her the Coach of the Year recognition.
AJFHL Leadership Award: Mila PrevilleA true role model, Mila Preville led by example both on the ice and in her community. Her dedication, integrity, and leadership left a lasting impact on her teammates and beyond.
Accepted by Morgan Coward of the Foothills Storm Paige Peach Heart & Soul Award: Ireland GreenhoughIreland Greenhough embodied everything this award stands for—heart, perseverance, and a deep love for the game. Her spirit lit up the rink and inspired everyone around her.
AJFHL Team of the Year: Lethbridge EaglesThis award honours the Alberta Junior Female Hockey League team that has made a significant impact and achieved remarkable results through their dedication to supporting and developing female hockey within their local community. This year marked the 4th annual Mental Health Memorial Game. Since the event's inception, it has successfully raised $39,644. To foster greater community involvement, we set out to include local female hockey teams in this year's initiative, and we were thrilled to see participation from five youth teams.
AJFHL Volunteer of the Year: Hayley ButzBehind every great team is a great support system, and this year, Hayley Butz stood out as a tireless, passionate contributor to the success of the Edmonton Wolves and the league as a whole.
Accepted by Bryan Toles, Edmonton Wolves Head Coach The final award of the evening was presented to the Edmonton Wolves, recognizing their exceptional season and crowning them as league champions. They proudly received their Team Paisley Bowl.
As we reflect on another incredible season, the AJFHL extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the winners and nominees. Your efforts, energy, and love for the game continue to elevate female hockey in Alberta. Here's to the memories made this year—and the ones still to come. 💙
